Local Rides

Group night rides are coming back!

Thursday evenings this fall (October), we will be having our group night rides at Capitol View Park again. We meet at the trails at 6:30pm. We have demo lights for first-timers, which only requires signing up. CCC crew would love to see you down at the trails, rockin' and rollin'! Call the shop or come on in for any further questions.

The local bicycle club web site also is a great way to get you motivated for the upcoming season of riding.

For those of you that haven't been here yet;  IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   8-14-10

Skullbuster is now open for volunteers to ride and run, not yet for
the general public.  We really need to complete the Yellow and Blue
section, modify the entrance, post the parking signs, and put up a
small trail head kiosk before we open it to all users.

As a Skullbuster volunteer you are encourage to come out and ride.

Please follow these instructions:
1.  Print the Skullbuster Trail map from the files portion of the
Skullbuster Google User Group.   900 Skinnersburg Rd Georgetown, KY  30 min from Lex or Frankfort.
2.  Park in the grassy area on the corner of Skinnersburg Road and
Stockdell Road.  Please do not park at any other location.  I have
uploaded a picture of the parking area on the files portion of the
Skullbuster Google User Group.  I have also uploaded directions to
this parking area.  Hint: this is next to the church, but not in the
church paring lot.
3.  Ride down Stockdell Road to the gate.  The gate has many "no
trespassing" signs.  We have permission from the county to ride the
Scott County Adventure Trails, so you have permission to go beyond
this gate.
4.  You will continue down the paved Stockdell Road for almost a  1/2 mile
until you see a small trail on the left.  This trail is marked by Blue
Diamonds and several "No Horse" signs.
5.  Ride the White segment up a show distance flowing the blue
diamonds until you reach the Pink segment.  Turn right on the Pink
segment and follow the trail up the hill.
6.  All of the trail you are now on is marked with blue diamonds.
Follow these blue diamonds as you ride the Pink, then Green, then
Purple, and then Red trail segments.
7.  When you reach the end of the Red segment, simply turn around and
follow the trail back to the road.
8.  As you ride/run you will observe yellow "Caution" signs.  These
signs indicate that you are approaching a horse path.  Please loudly
call "Biker Up".  We need to signal our presence to prevent horses
from being startled (horses are startled by visual surprises, not by
noises).
9.  If you encounter horse riders on the trail be polite.  Simply
point out that horse traffic is not allowed on the trail they are
riding.  WE MUST MAINTAIN GOOD RELATIONS WITH THE EQUESTRIANS!  WE
WILL LOOSE ACCESS TO SKULLBUSTER IF THE COUNTY HAS TO DEAL WITH ANY
PROBLEMS!  Please report any encounters with horse traffic to me and I
will talk to the equestrian leaders in Scott County.
10. Do not explore (ride) the other paths or trails that you encounter
at Skullbuster.  These are horse paths and we have agreed to stay off
of them.

We have stepped it up and started using our Garmin Edge 500 series to map club rides. We will post the rides as we ride them!
